Nintendo Posts Operating Loss
Nintendo Co. racked up an operating loss in the fiscal first half on weak sales of its Wii U videogame consoles, stepping up pressure for a major overhaul in strategy.
The world’s biggest videogame company said Wednesday it posted an operating loss of ¥23.28 billion ($237 million) for April-September period, putting its target of ¥100 billion for the 12 months ending March 2014 even further out of reach. That was narrower than the ¥29.16 billion loss it reported in the same period a year earlier, and the firm generated a ¥600 million net profit during the period.
