LinkedIn announced an update to its search function on Monday, tweaking some smaller qualities to the site’s people-browsing capabilities. Among the improvements are a “smart query intent algorithm” — which learns and gets better with each search you perform — as well as suggested searches and automated alerts.

Facebook Folds More Features Into iOS App

Facebook updated its iOS application on Monday afternoon, bringing the most popular features of companion apps Messenger and Camera to the main Facebook app. Among the updates are the ability to swipe left within the app to find chat contacts, the ability to upload multiple photos at once and the opportunity for U.S. users to give Facebook Gifts to friends directly from the phone.

Apple’s iBooks App Gets a Refresh

Apple announced on Tuesday a new version of its iBooks application, the iOS-based software which allows mobile users to read books on their tablets and smartphones. Version 3.0 of the new app comes with a continuous scrolling feature, fuller integration with Apple’s iCloud, Facebook and Twitter integration to share quotes to social networks, and support for 40 languages. To date, more than 400 million iBooks have been downloaded, according to Apple CEO Tim Cook.

TweetDeck Gets a Touch-Up

Twitter updated its TweetDeck power-user interface on Wednesday, an aesthetic refresh of the application across all the platforms it runs on (Mac, Windows, Chrome and the Web). Flourishes include color and template updates, and added choices in font sizing for the squinty among us. The changes are in line with other brand-identity tweaks Twitter has made over the past year, including an updated Twitter bird logo.
