CES: The Things We Carry

There is a certain irony in the amount of consumer, pro-sumer and professional gadgetry used to report on electronics.

With 2,500 exhibitors showcasing thousands of new products this year, it’s nearly impossible to see it all. CES 2010 also boasts the greatest number of new booths added–330–than any year prior; and “preview” events, meant to give journos mere glimpses of the madness, are showing over 100 demos.

The single most-used word employed by veteran tech reporters, and even some company executives, when asked their thoughts on the event: “overwhelming.” Followed by: “Wear sneakers.”
