Chatroulette, by the Numbers
Amid all the excitement about Internet phenomenon / media obsession Chatroulette.com, here’s something we can get on board with: numbers.
A small social-media research group has produced what appears to be the first academic-style paper on Chatroulette, showing, as expected, that 87 percent of users are men and that most users are between the ages of 18 and 24. The group, called the Web Ecology Project, also calculated that 5 percent to 8 percent of users were either naked or had the camera focused on their genitals.
