As of August 1, there will be no more virtual flowers or birthday cakes available through Facebook. According to Jared Morgenstern, product manager for games and credits, the company has decided to close the Gift Shop in order to focus its efforts on improving other core products. Third-party applications will remain available for users who want to send gifts.
