As part of an effort to destigmatize regular health checkups for sexually transmitted diseases, MTV and Foursquare will team up in September as part of MTV’s “GYT: Get Yourself Tested” campaign. In order to get the special black and green badge, a Foursquare user has to shout “GYT” to his or her friends after checking in at a nearby clinic. Stephen Friedman, MTV’s general manager, hopes the program will offer positive reinforcement for getting tested. “It only takes a few to get the ball rolling,” he said.
