Google Donates Cash, Blood for San Bruno Inferno Victims
Google often pulls together some special online resources in cases of disaster, but today it’s joining the rest of the Bay Area in marshaling tangible help for some of its neighbors–victims of the gas-fueled inferno that destroyed almost 40 homes in San Bruno last night, leaving at least four people dead and more than 50 injured. Noting that the initial blast was just two miles from its YouTube offices, Google said it was donating an initial $50,000 to the local Red Cross for relief efforts, directing employees to local blood drives and planning several of its own blood drives for next week. An annotated map of the neighborhood has also been posted and is open for collaboration.
