Netflix Fires Back at Amazon With CBS Deal
Here’s Netflix’s answer to Amazon’s streaming video foray: A new deal with CBS that will give the video service online access to some of the network’s older shows. Note “older”: While there is lots of speculation that Netflix wants to start showing “next day TV,” a la Hulu, CBS is mostly handing over “library” shows here, like “Star Trek” and “Cheers.” And shows that the network is airing today, like “Medium,” won’t be available until next year. That’s different than recent pacts with Disney and Comcast’s NBC, each of which is letting Netflix show a couple “in season” shows.
