Mobile Devices Key For High Street Start Up

It is hard to describe a company that includes Sir Stuart Rose, former CEO of Marks and Spencer, and Charles Dunstone, founder of The Carphone Warehouse, one of the U.K.’s leading mobile phone retailers, among its backers as a “start up” but the Mobile Money Network is just that, and hopes to change the way consumers and retailers interact.

According to John Milliken, managing director, there is a problem for consumers in buying things. At the moment, he says, advertising is inefficient. “You see an ad, it either says go to my shop, or go online to look at my stuff. It doesn’t say ‘buy here’. If we can get to that point, when you can buy direct from ad, then you have a one stage decision process for the consumer.

“If you make it as simple as you possibly can to buy things then consumers will benefit by having those things and by saving time. Retailers will benefit from additional revenue.”

About Voices

Along with original content and posts from across the Dow Jones network, this section of AllThingsD includes Must-Reads From Other Websites — pieces we’ve read, discussions we’ve followed, stuff we like. Six posts from external sites are included here each weekday, but we only run the headlines. We link to the original sites for the rest. These posts are explicitly labeled, so it’s clear that the content comes from other websites, and for clarity’s sake, all outside posts run against a pink background.

We also solicit original full-length posts and accept some unsolicited submissions.
