En Fuego: Kindle Fire Orders Keep Climbing

After racking up an estimated 95,000 pre-orders within the first 24 hours of availability, Amazon’s forthcoming Kindle Fire tablet continues to sell well. Demand for the device shows no signs of slowing. In fact, sources close to Amazon claim the company has been selling upward of 25,000 Fires per day.

That number jibes roughly with the one reported by market research firm eDataSource, which tells me Amazon has been selling 20,000 Fires per day on average after that first big day.

Impressive metrics. Because if they’re accurate, Amazon has sold between 235,000 and 245,000 Fires since announcing the device on September 28.

Now, that’s nowhere near the one million iPad 2s Apple sold on launch weekend. But keep in mind that this is an unproven device. And it’s not even shipping yet. Remember, it took Research In Motion the company’s entire second quarter to sell just 200,000 PlayBooks, so Amazon is already way ahead of the game here.
