Google Says Goodbye to Checkout to Focus on the Wallet

We never knew how many people had signed up for Google Checkout, and now we probably never will. Checkout was used as the primary way to pay for apps in the Android Market, but was largely assumed to lack mass adoption, since it was never required. In a blog post, Google said it is merging Checkout with its newest payment strategy, called Google Wallet, which will be used to pay for things on Android Market, YouTube, Google+ Games and other Google sites.
