YouMail Dismayed After Its Voicemail App Is Yanked From Android Market

You’ve not got YouMail.

Those looking for the YouMail visual voicemail app in the Android Market on Thursday won’t be able to find it. A visit to the company’s former spot in the Android market turns up a sad-looking “not found” page.

YouMail says it learned yesterday that its app was being pulled by Google for violations of the Android Market’s terms of service, following a complaint from T-Mobile.

“It has come to our attention that this application could be used in a way that is harmful to devices, networks or users,” Google said in an email to YouMail. “Specifically we have received a complaint from T-Mobile that this application is causing adverse network disruption.”

YouMail says it’s perplexed. It says it never heard from T-Mobile and that other Android apps use similar network resources. YouMail notes that some smaller carriers even preload their app.

T-Mobile and Google representatives were not immediately available for comment.

In the meantime, YouMail suggests that those who want to get their app go to Amazon’s app store, where it is still available.
