Dig Through Yahoo’s Recycling Pile for the ID of Your Dreams
Yahoo’s unused Yahoo user name land grab began in earnest today with the company accepting requests to release Yahoo IDs that haven’t been used in more than a year. Folks interested in snagging a particular user name can head over to wishlist.yahoo.com and request it. If it’s eligible for reuse, Yahoo will release it on a first-come, first-served basis. The company is limiting recycled IDs and recycled ID requests to one and five per customer, respectively. And to ensure that they’re recycled securely, it’s deploying a new type of user validation that it developed with Facebook.
