Shazam Hires Hulu Sales Exec as Chief Revenue Officer

Music-discovery app Shazam plans to announce today that it has hired senior Hulu ad sales exec Kevin McGurn as its new chief revenue officer.

McGurn is the first C-level hire for new Shazam CEO Rich Riley, and will fill a position that had been empty since former CRO Doug Garland left the company earlier this year for a role with the San Francisco 49ers. McGurn is just the latest Hulu exec to leave the company over the last year in the wake of former CEO Jason Kilar’s departure and a very public sale process that didn’t result in a sale of the video site.

The hire follows Shazam’s recent announcement that it received a $40 million investment from Carlos Slim’s America Movil.
