Apple Makes Good on “Breaking Bad” Split Season Silliness

“Breaking Bad” fans who purchased an iTunes Season Pass for the show’s fifth and final season only to find that it included half of the 16 episodes they thought they were getting awoke to some good news today: An email from Apple crediting them for the additional eight episodes they had to purchase when AMC decided to divide the season into two eight-episode story arcs — “Season 5” and “The Final Season.”

Distributed Monday night to everyone who purchased both “Breaking Bad” episode bundles (myself included), the message apologized for the confusion that arose from AMC’s handling of the show’s epic denouement and offered a $22.99 iTunes credit as an olive branch to those disgruntled by it.

Dear Customer,

We apologize for any confusion the naming of “Season 5” and “The Final Season” of “Breaking Bad” might have caused you. While the names of the seasons and episodes associated with them were not chosen by iTunes, we’d like to offer you “The Final Season” on us by providing you with the iTunes code below in the amount of $22.99. This credit can also be used for any other content on the iTunes Store. Thank you for your purchase.

A nice gesture, and one that should go a long way toward appeasing those outraged that Apple didn’t give them all 16 episodes of the show for $21.99 — essentially half of the single-episode price, a discount the company never offers. Now, they’ve gotten just that.
