Kik and BlackBerry Settle Patent Infringement Lawsuit

Mobile messaging startup Kik Interactive said Monday that the three-year-old patent infringement case in which it was defending itself against BlackBerry was formally settled September 4. At the time of the lawsuit, Kik had just launched, after founder Ted Livingston had tried to pitch a similar idea while working at BlackBerry (then RIM). BlackBerry’s own Messenger product just finally went multi-platform when it launched on Android and iOS last month.
