Apple, the Fanboys and the Foot Cozy: A Cautionary Tale

This is the thing about Apple: What other consumer electronics company provokes people to create stupid/inspired hand-knit items like this “foot cozy”? And then post a demonstration video on YouTube?

And this is the other thing about Apple (AAPL): What other consumer electronics company provokes such animus? Engadget posted this clip just before 5 am this morning, and within an hour and a half, nasty comments on the site provoked Rachael Burns, the foot cozy’s creator, to leave this message:

CHILL OUT everyone! I knitted this as a joke! I dont condone using power adapters in this way, and of course safety always comes first.

I hope I make a few of you laugh with this idea. I’m not cut out for comments on youtube telling me to go and die though.
