Reddit’s earnest plea for financial help from its members last week worked so well that it’s decided to create a permanent subscription-level product with discrete benefits and requirements. Reddit Gold offers subscribers control over whether or not they see ads, userpage sorting and “Friends with Benefits,” the ability to add notes on friends. The subscription fee varies (exact details here), but is generally $4 per month.
