Marc Andreessen Wishes You Were A Robot (At Least Behind the Wheel)

Any time you stand in line at the D.M.V. and look around, you’re like, Oh, my God, I wish all these people were replaced by computer drivers. Ten to 20 years out, driving your car will be viewed as equivalently immoral as smoking cigarettes around other people is today.

Marc Andreessen, talking to the New York Times magazine’s Andrew Goldman, in an interview published today, about Google’s experiments with self-driving cars. Also discussed in the Q&A: Andreessen’s now-standard defense of tech company valuations, including Apple, Google and private companies he’s investing in like Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare.

The Times also plans on using its blog today to publish some extras from the cutting-room floor, including Andreessen discussing wife Laura’s particular enthusiasm for Christmas.
