Samsung to Apple: Victory Is Mine
Samsung will begin selling its Galaxy Tab 10.1 tablet in Australia in time for Christmas, despite Apple’s best efforts to stop it.
On Friday, Australia’s High Court dismissed Apple’s bid to have a ban on the sale of the 10.1 extended. And it denied the motion “with costs,” slapping Cupertino with the bill for all the legal wrangling.
It’s an important victory for Samsung, one that brings the Galaxy Tab 10.1 to retailers’ shelves just in time for the biggest shopping season of the year. And it’s another setback for Apple’s legal campaign against it, which now spans some 10 countries.
Today’s decision by Australia’s High Court follows a recent U.S. court ruling denying Apple’s request for a preliminary injunction prohibiting sales of some of Samsung’s Galaxy smartphones and tablets in the States.
