Microsoft: The Xbox 360 Is Not Dead Yet, With New Hardware Available Today
Even though its new flagship console is on the way, the Xbox 360 is getting a facelift and some new features, Microsoft said at its E3 Media Briefing today in Los Angeles.
“We’re gonna update the Xbox 360 console with a modern look and feel based on the Xbox One design,” said marketing and strategy CVP Yusuf Mehdi.
Indeed, the redesign makes the whiter 360 look very similar to the black Xbox One, which Microsoft unveiled last month at its campus in Washington state. The new hardware is available to buy, starting today, Mehdi said.
Also included in the hardware refresh is a new incentive for gamers to subscribe to Xbox Live Gold now, rather than waiting for the next-gen console: Two free games per month, starting with Assassins Creed 2 and Halo 3. Mehdi also promised that “hundreds of new games” are still on the way for the Xbox 360.
