Former Facebook Marketer Jonathan Ehrlich Named Foundation Capital Partner

Foundation Capital, which counts Lending Club, Pocket and Motif Investing among its investments, has named Jonathan Ehrlich as a partner. Ehrlich had been an entrepreneur in residence at Foundation since early this year, after leaving Foundation portfolio company Copious, which he co-founded. Prior to Copious, Ehrlich was a marketing director at Facebook, where he oversaw consumer and brand marketing.

Early Twitter Product Manager Anamitra Banerji Named Partner at Foundation Capital

Almost one year after joining Foundation Capital as an entrepreneur in residence, Anamitra Banerji has been hired as a full partner to the venture firm. Banerji was Twitter’s employee No. 30 and first product manager, and was instrumental in the creation of Twitter’s ad product, the Promoted Suite. He’ll focus on sniffing out startups in the mobile, commerce and marketing space.

Pocket Raises $5 Million for Read It Later Service

Pocket, the Web bookmarking/sharing service formerly known as Read It Later, has raised a $5 million B round, led by previous investors Foundation Capital; Baseline Ventures and Google Ventures also put more money into the company. The company says it has six million users who save more than a million items a day, and is integrated with apps like Twitter and Flipboard. Competitors include Instapaper as well as Apple, which has built a “reading list” function into its operating system.
